Sunday at Harbor Days Festival

Yesterday was uneventful, even though we ventured over to the Port of Olympia for the 35th Annual Harbor Days Festival. We took the boys to watch the tugboat races--I thought it would be fun too. When we arrived at Port Plaza there wasn't much going on. We got there 30 minutes before the races were scheduled to start. We saw some pirates, and took closeup photos of the two tall ships at port: the Hawaiian Chieftain and the Lady Washington.

The boys went down by the water to throw stones; they get so much enjoyment out of the simplest things in life. We saw remote controlled tugboats in action. We saw real tugboats sailing through the waters to get to the races. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see past the plaza. We were clueless as to where we should be situated in order to see the races. After a while we gave up. It was lunch time and we were all hungry.

It wasn't until after we were already in the Durango that I realized we should have strolled the boardwalk to where the actual festival was taking place. There were 120 arts and crafts, and food vendors, and entertainment. I don't know why that didn't register in my brain sooner. The boys could have burned off some energy at the playground too. Oh well, I took some great photos. There's always next year.

Here's the photo Sparky Monkey took of the boys and me.

Here's a photo a generous lady offered to take of the family. She didn't get the ship's name in there, but it's good material for a Christmas postcard.
